Founder Story

Stronger in body.
Stronger in mind.

Crosstown Strength & Speed was founded on a simple belief: getting stronger changes everything.

We came up in gyms built on chalk, iron and honest work — places where your reputation came from how hard you trained, never how you looked.

Too many young athletes in our community had no access to real performance coaching, and too many serious lifters had nowhere to train but big-box facilities that were never designed for them.

So we set out to build the gym we had always wanted: a facility that brings elite strength equipment and structured youth development together under one roof in St. Charles.

Our mission is simple — help people grow stronger in body and mind, and carry that strength into their families, teams and everyday lives.

Meet the Founder

Rob Simnick

Founder

Rob has spent more than 25 years under the barbell. First as a record-setting Illinois powerlifter, then as a national-level strongman competitor. That path gave him hard-earned insight into what it takes to keep improving.

He has taught high school athletes to lift properly and to build strength and speed, both as an outside consultant to high school coaching staffs and as a trainer at strength and speed camps.

A fixed income trader by day, Rob is a weightlifting enthusiast after the market closes. He is passionate about helping young athletes improve their abilities, and has helped many prepare for their next competition or a college athletic career.

Rob is a St. Charles resident and father of three hard-working kids. He has lived in the Chicago suburbs all his life and now resides with his wife, Jackie, on the east side of town.

“Process over motivation”Motivation fades but a well defined and disciplined process carries you to the next level.

Meet the Founder

Minor Mobley

Founder

Minor has a passion for building businesses that serve the area, including Excel Automotive and Genuine Valor clothing company. Together with his wife, Jennifer, they run the largest direct to school resource in the St. Charles area, Big Hearts of Fox Valley. With six years of Marine Corps service, he is dedicated to protecting what is important.

He works with lifters and athletes at every stage: first-timers learning the basics, young athletes building speed and strength, and experienced members chasing new personal records.

Minor found strength training over 10 years ago, which changed the course of his life, and he wants to share that passion with others.

For Minor, the best part of this work is watching someone realize they are capable of far more than they thought — in the gym and everywhere else.

A 16-year St. Charles resident with two children and his wife, Jennifer, Minor has many years of growing successful businesses in his community.

“Trust and respect are earned, never given.”Expect nothing, earn everything.
